Detailed description of Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort
Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort is a Resort, 27 hole golf facility located in Shawnee-On-Delaware, Pennsylvania. The facility has three, 9-hole courses, The Red Course, The White Course, and The Blue Course. these courses can be combined to make 3 different 18 hole challenges, Red/White, Red/Blue, and White/Blue.
First opened for play in 1911, the Shawnee golf course is A.W. Tillinghast's first course design.
Tillinghast's design of this famous island golf course may have been his very first, but definitely not his last. Tillinghast went on to design many famous course including; Wing Foot, Baltusrol, Beth Page Black, San Francisco Bay Club and others.
Even in his youth, Tillinghast had the vision to arrange a majority of our Shawnee golf course on an island in the middle of the Delaware River. Shawnee's golf island is the heart of our course and it is here where guests have experienced pure golf for nearly a century. What is pure golf? Pure golf is nothing but fairway between you and the green. Pure golf is a distraction free afternoon in the tranquility of nature.
Some 50 years after opening, Bill Diddle, was the architect in charge of expanding Shawnee's original 18 holes into a 27 hole golf facility.

Great historic course in a beautiful setting, had a groupon for $32 which was well worth it, is $90 a round worth it? Probably not The hotel actually reminds me of the film "The Shining"

Played for the second time last Saturday, pace of play issue is because the Inn at Shawnee is selling timeshares and including golf packages (mostly retirees), so the twosome we were paired with was warned twice by the ranger to pick up the pace. No problems the last time when we played as a twosome.

Would recommend this course to anyone. The whole experience was exceptional from the course conditions and the staff to the Bald Eagles soaring overhead.

Loved the course Drove an Hour to play it !!Only drawback were the FLYS from start tp finish the flys were biteing and ruined the day !! It was a Real hot day but the course was in perfect shape and the Rangers and starters were the best ! But again the FLYS were the big problem I think they were biteing thru my golf shoes !!! My advice is to check with pro shop to see if the Flys are still a problem someone told us they will only be in area about 2 weeks !!!
